The School Thoroughly Carries out Preliminary Undergraduate Teaching Inspection and Class Observation Work

(Correspondent: Yan Fei) To implement the university's requirements for the preliminary undergraduate teaching inspection, strengthen the role of the classroom as the main front for teaching, and deepen the construction of teaching and learning styles, the College organized a class observation team consisting of college leaders, teaching supervisors, and department heads (deputy heads) to carry out a special class observation and supervision from March 9 to March 13. This observation randomly selected teachers involved in undergraduate teaching, with a focus on young faculty and key classes. It covered multiple core courses such as Physical Chemistry, Professional English, and Environmental Chemistry, achieving comprehensive coverage across different courses and teachers.

 

During the class observation process, the observers strictly adhered to the observation requirements by entering the classroom 5-10 minutes early. They carefully recorded information on teaching content, teaching methods, classroom organization and management, as well as student attendance and learning status. After class, they promptly collected and provided feedback on their observations. According to the feedback from the supervision team, the overall teaching order was good. Most teachers were conscientious in their teaching, well-prepared in their lessons, and demonstrated clear classroom logic and active teacher-student interaction. Student attendance and front-row seating rates were generally high, reflecting a positive teaching and learning atmosphere.

In response to the issues identified during the observations, the supervision team took targeted measures and provided precise feedback and suggestions for improvement. For problems such as insufficient classroom discipline management, student absenteeism, and tardiness, they recommended strengthening classroom management. For issues like a lack of innovation in teaching methods and a dull classroom atmosphere, they suggested integrating modern information technology and increasing teacher-student interaction. Additionally, they offered specific guidance on details such as optimizing PowerPoint production, making efficient use of multimedia equipment, and controlling the pace of instruction.

This preliminary undergraduate teaching inspection and class observation not only served as a comprehensive "check-up" for the College's teaching work in the new semester but also as an important opportunity to promote teaching quality improvement. Next, the School of Chemistry and Environmental Engineering will carefully sort out the issues identified during the inspection, establish a closed-loop management mechanism of "inspection—feedback—rectification—improvement," and urge relevant teachers to make timely rectifications and continuous improvements. At the same time, the College will continue to strengthen teaching process management, regularly conduct teaching supervision and class observation and evaluation activities, further deepen the development of teaching and learning styles, effectively enhance undergraduate teaching quality, and provide strong support for the high-quality development of the College.
